The First Libraries Probably Could’ve Used a ULoft Furniture Makeover

University Loft Furniture for College Lounges and LibrariesI recently picked up The Book of Firsts, a compendium of, well, the first occurrences of thousands of things. I’ve dog-eared a few pages along the way, and one of the items that surprised me was the notation that the first libraries appeared circa 1700 B.C. in Babylonia. Since that significantly pre-dates the printing press, I was surprised that actual libraries existed. (A check of Wikipedia shows that the earliest libraries perhaps date even earlier, as far back as 2600 B.C.!) What does that have to do with University Loft? Well… where books (or clay tablets) can be found, learning happens; and where learning happens, University Loft furniture makes that learning environment better.

In addition to University Loft furniture being in residence hall dorm rooms and student housing on more than 1,200 campuses across America and around the world, ULoft furniture can also be found in student lounges and college libraries. And why not? After all, college seating solutions from University Loft Company can fit into practically any campus library setting with furniture that is stylish, comfortable and durable.

As with ULoft’s dorm room furniture, you can choose from a number of design series and wood finishes. You can also choose from dozens of fabric choices; and most of our student lounge and library furniture also offers our replaceable Velcro fabrics that can add years of life to on-campus student furnishings.

At University Loft, we’re not just about dorm room furniture. But we are all about creative stylish, comfortable, durable and functional spaces for college and university living and learning. We’re proud that so many learning institutions allow us to enhance their student and residence life experiences.

I wonder what those early library dwellers would think if they could see the libraries of today? I’m sure they’d be overwhelmed by information, by technology, and by the sheer comfort of University Loft’s library furnishings. Anything less is just so…primitive!
