The Art and Science of College Dorm Room Furniture

Art and Science of College Dorm Furniture by University LoftBeyond keeping you all informed about University Loft and their amazing solid wood dorm and residence life furniture, I’m a pretty creative guy in other ways. I do graphic design, I’ve designed and built two homes, and remodeled two others. Now I’m taking up painting. The artistic kind, that is. Because I have a healthy balance between left-brain-Bob and right-brain-Bob, I am approaching this artistic pursuit with a dash of science: I use the computer to craft images, which I then paint. Art meets science to create something of beauty. Still sounds like University Loft student furniture to me!

University Loft furniture for college started with the artistic vision of James Jannetides, who, more than 25 years ago, built the first dorm room loft bed and furniture arrangements at Southern Illinois University. James saw in his mind that it would be possible to maximize space in the residence hall living quarters by raising the beds and placing other student furniture beneath them. That early vision was a thing of beauty, and thanks to the artistry of continuing refinements, ULoft student furniture today is a timeless classic enjoyed by tens of thousands of college and university students in more than a thousand schools around the globe.

The science of University Loft furniture for college is three-fold: innovation, construction, and our commitment to the environment:

University Loft continues to innovate to make college and university residence life ever more conducive to living and learning on campus. Our Wave Chair is an example; it’s part student chair, part gaming chair and part laptop desk. Way cool!

We construct all our solid wood dorm room furniture with state-of-the-art (or maybe it should be state-of-the-science) furniture building equipment and techniques. We go beyond the cheaper and less sturdy construction methods of many other furniture manufacturers. The result is more solid construction that wears longer for better value.

And finally, our commitment to the environment is a scientific approach to making our planet a better place to live. We use Environmentally Farmed Timber that is sustainable and eco-friendly. Very scientific, but also a thing of beauty.

Art, science, University Loft furniture. Beautiful, right?
