University Loft Invests in Technology to Craft State-of-the-Art University Housing Student Furniture

When it comes to building the best student furniture for university housing, University Loft Company is both a pioneer and a leading edge innovator. Since 1986, University Loft has been outfitting on-campus student residences and dorm rooms with solid wood and modular loft-style beds, desks, dressers, and ergonomic seating. But University Loft is never one to rest on its laurels. We continue to innovate and improve our student furniture products so that we stay on top with state-of-the-art student furnishings. One way we do that is by investing in student furniture manufacturing and production technologies.

How serious is University Loft Company about maintaining our position as a leader in student furniture craftsmanship? ULoft has made a total investment of more than $2 million in new furniture production equipment and technology since 2010. We’ve invested in items such as faster, more accurate and safer panel, table and chop saws, as well as shapers and sanders. Some of our new equipment enables combining multiple production processes. Our new Shoda Maxxim Twin CNC Router, for example, features two tables and four cutting heads. It can take pre-cut sheets and drill vertical and horizontal holes in one cycle. This machine alone has tripled ULoft’s manufacturing capacity for machining side panels and other components.

The Biesse Levia 220 calibrating and sanding machine is another example of University Loft’s new production technology. This unit enables us to reduce the hours necessary for sanding and has effectively doubled our capacity in this area.

Overall, we’ve added 17 new pieces of student furniture production equipment and technology. These additions make it possible for University Loft Company to achieve more efficient production in a cleaner, safer production facility. They also enable University Loft to offer greater product customization and employ more highly skilled and better-trained workers.

$2 million+ is a huge investment in technology, but at University Loft, we’re confident that such an investment will pay huge dividends in helping us maintain our leadership position as a manufacturer of state-of-the-art student furniture for university housing environments. Don’t you agree that our university students deserve nothing less than the best?
